My Sun Microsystems Ultra 5 specifications are shown below:
Sun Ultra 5 | |
---|---|
Names | ultra |
OS's | [OpenBSD] |
CPU | SPARC64 270 Mhz |
RAM | 128 Mb |
Hard Disk | 9 Gb |
Info | dmesgs: 3.6 to 3.8 serial console runs at 9600 |
The floppy drive on the Ultra 5 is not recognised by OpenBSD, thus to set up this machine you can either boot from the CDROM or use a network boot (my prefered method). If you boot bsd.rd from the CDROM the installation will fail if you leave the OpenBSD CD in the drive - so I get the install sets via ftp from one of my other machines in the network.
Upgrading is much is easier as you can copy the bsd.rd from the OpenBSD CD straight to the root partition, halt the system and reboot with the following commands:
#shutdown -h now
This halts the system and leaves you at the BootPROM prompt:
ok boot bsd.rd
Then (I)nstall or (U)pgrade to your heart's content.
